Pacific Life Open or Indian Wells Masters , as it is popularly known, is a tennis tournament which has the entire tennis world attracted to it with the best players of the sport battling it out in the courts.
The tournament is held in Indian Wells, a small city in the state of California, USA. The tournament has two sections- one for men and the other for women. While the men's competition is a part of the ATP or Association of Tennis Professionals Masters Series , the women's tour is a Tier 1 event. The tournament is quite a big one with a draw size of 96 and is battled out on the hard courts. The 2007 edition has Charlie Pasarell as the Tournament Director. The prize money in this coming edition of the tournament will amount to quite a big amount of $3,450,000 and the matches were scheduled from March 9 th to 18 th.

The Pacific Life Open was known by different names like Newsweek Champions Cup , the Pilot Pen Classic and the Congoleum Classic . The women's section was called the Evert Cup and in 1996, the two merged. It is now an ATP and WTA or the Women's Tennis Association competition and the largest tournament on the tennis circuit. It has both singles and doubles fixtures. The players to have won the men's singles tournament include defending champion Rafael Nadal , Roger Federer and Boris Becker while the defending champions of the men's doubles category are Martin Damm and Leander Paes . Players like Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf have won this tournament. The defending champion for this section is Daniela Hantuchova. The team of Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur will be playing in the doubles category to defend their title for a consecutive second year.

With a cluster of stars on the courts, all eyes remain fixed on the courts of Pacific Life Open . The tournament is one of the most coveted tournaments in the tennis circuit.
