Tennis Tournaments

Tennis tournaments evolved as a modern sport during the middle of the nineteenth century. Since then, the sport has been gaining popularity among the masses across the globe. The first tennis tournament was held in 1877. At present a number of tennis tournaments are arranged throughout the year.

In the early days, tennis was played on lawn. With the advancement of technology and science, courts used during the tennis championships also developed. Tennis tournaments are usually categorized on the basis of gender and number of players. Generally a tennis tournament consists of men's and women's singles and doubles competitions. Apart from that, there is often a mixed doubles competition held, in which one male and one female player teams up and match is played between two pairs. Different tennis cups are also arranged for different age groups. The number of players in a tennis tournament can be anything between 16 and 128.

The International Tennis Federation or the ITF is the governing body of tennis in the international domain. The rules followed during the tennis tournament are set by the International Tennis Federation . Various tennis tournaments organized in different venues throughout the year are—
