Roger Federer , a famous name and one of the most successful players of modern tennis , is popular among the tennis lovers for his capability of displaying scintillating tennis in the courts to overpower his opponents. Roger Federer was born on 8 th August, 1981, in the town of Binningen in Switzerland to Robert and Lynette Federer. He had been playing tennis since the age of six, but also had soccer among his list of favorite games. He even had in his mind the plan of pursuing soccer as a career, but he shifted to tennis, becoming one of its greatest players of all times.
With an all-court playing style and tremendous proficiency in nearly all the fundamental shots of tennis, Roger Federer has been a formidable force of world tennis since his arrival at the professional circuit in 1998. Earlier that year, he had won the Wimbledon Juniors title and the Orange Bowl title and was given the award for the ITF World Junior Tennis champion for 1998. He won his first ATP title in Milan in February 2001. Since then, he has won ten Grand Slam men's singles titles, three Tennis Masters Cup titles and has been champion in twelve ATP Masters Series . In 1998, he also achieved the feat of being the first player after Mats Wilander to win three of the four Grand Slam titles and in 2006 became the first player ever to win the US Open and the Wimbledon in the same year.
