Tennis Serve

Tennis Serve , the shot to start a point, is the base of learning how to play good tennis and can win matches for the players who can master it. There are certain tennis serve rules that should be followed while making a first tennis serve . The serve, or service, as it is formally known, is started by tossing the ball up in the air and hitting it to the diagonally opposite court when it starts coming down. The ball should not touch the net or fall beyond the service box of the opponent. The player gets two chances to achieve this before losing a point on Double Fault . A foot fault can also occur while serving if the server steps across the base line before striking the ball with the racket. A serve which drops in the service court in spite of touching the net is a net serve and considered void and has to be replayed. Before serving, a player can take enough time to get ready, a thing which he or she can't do while the game is on.

There are different types of tennis serves to perform different kinds of necessities that arise during the course of a tennis match. These serves are performed with the help of separate grips . A few famous serves are the flat serve , formerly known as the cannonball serve, the slice serve , the topspin serve , the topspin-slice serve and the twist serve which is sometimes also called the American twist serve . There are also a few more varieties like the underhanded serve which carries an underspin and the reverse-slice serve .

The players with a sharper serve naturally have an added advantage over their opponents. The tennis serves are an integral part of learning the procedures of the game and the players crave to master them to reach the top of the tennis world.
