Tennis Court

Tennis court is the rectangular surface, on which tennis matches are played. Since the advent of tennis, various types of tennis courts have been used by the players. The standard tennis court has a low net in the middle of it dividing the court in two halves.

There are mainly four kinds of tennis courts . These are clay courts , grass courts , indoor courts and hard or concrete courts. At present, courts made of synthetic materials are also being used during various tennis tournaments. The length of a standard tennis court is 78 feet. The width of a court differs with the type of match played there. For singles match, width of tennis court is 27 feet, and for doubles match it is 36 feet. The height of the net in the middle of the tennis court is approximately three feet.

Tennis courts have to be prepared thoroughly before every match played there. For indoor matches, courts have to be sufficiently lighted. A number of manufacturers are devoted in making perfect tennis courts , which would help in increasing the standard of tennis played there.
