Sealous Game Reserve

The Sealous Game Reserve is a very famous and an interesting place to visit. The Sealous Game Reserve is situated in the south of Tanzania. It has been named after an English man Frederick Sealous. This game reserve has been given UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 because of its calm atmosphere and varied wildlife. The Sealous Game Reserve occupies a total area of 54,600 square kilometers.

Wildlife of the Savannas like elephants, hippopotamus, African wild dogs, crocodiles are found here in abundance. This game reserve is also no less famous as a hunting ground. Various species of birds can also be seen. The scenic beauty of the sun rise and the sun set appeal to a large number of visitors. Presently, the Sealous Game Reserve has become a popular tourist spot, but because of the presence of the harmful Tsetse fly visitors come here in less numbers.

Some interesting places to visit here are the rivers Rufiji and Stiegler. The Rufiji River flows into the Indian Ocean in front of the Mafia Island and the Stiegler is a canyon, which is 100meters wide and 100 meters deep. Surrounding this canyon, there are many facilities available for the tourists. In Sealous Game Reserve, walking expedition is allowed. This facility is not available in most of the others parks in Africa.
