The local name of Mahale Mountains National Park is Nkungwe. Nkungwe is the largest mountain in the National Park. The altitude of Nkungwe mountain is 2,460 meters or 8,069 feet. The mountain peak is the highest among the mountains that constitute the Mahale mountain range. The total area of Mahale Mountains National Park is 1,613 square kilometer or 623 square miles. The best season for visiting Mahale National Park is the dry season. The dry season starts in the month of May and continues up to October.
