Tanzania Flag

Flag is the symbol of a nation and every flag portrays some features of the nation. Tanzania flag also serves the same purpose and is a representation of the unity of the country. A national symbol and pride for the country, the flag of Tanzania carries a special meaning for all the Tanzanian nationals. Followed by a special program, the Tanzania flag was adopted officially in the year of independence of the country, on 30th June, 1964.

Rectangular in shape, Tanzanian flag has five stripes, which are diagonal to each other. There are four colors in the flag-green, yellow, black and blue. Majority of the flag is covered by the green and the blue color, which form two triangles at the top and bottom of the flag respectively. The black diagonal stripe is in the center bordered by two thin yellow stripes.

All the colors in the Tanzania flag have a special significance and meaning attached to it. The green color in the flag of Tanzania represents the bountiful nature and the agricultural activity in Tanzania. The fertility of the soil is also implied in the green color of the flag. The blue color in the Tanzanian flag represents the Indian Ocean, which forms a coastline with the exotic country. The thick black stripe in the center implies the people of Tanzania, while the two thin yellow strips are representative of the country's mineral treasures.
