The root of Tanzania art can be traced back to the ancient days. Tanzania art includes some of the very famous prehistoric rock arts found in Lake Eyasi basin and Kondoa. Kondoa is one of the cities in Tanzania, which is known to be a major center of Tanzanian art and culture. The rock paintings of Tanzania art are sculpted on the steep rocky slopes over the valleys. This kind of Tanzania art dates back to 1908 and were first mentioned in the books by Mary Leaky.
Among the famous schools in Tanzania art, the most prominent one is Tinga Tinga schools of painting. The art of Tanzania includes intricate paintings of animals, simple stylized characters band birds at Mt Kilimanjaro. These days it is very hard to procure Tanzanian art from Tanzania and Zanzibar since they get imported to Kenya. The Tanzanian art is highly influenced by the African cultural form of art. This art form is also influenced by Arabic culture.
Tanzania art is however extremely costly and it is very difficult to obtain the Tinga Tinga paintings. The owners of these rare artifacts refuse to give in to any kind of bargaining of the precious Tanzania art and paintings.
