The rare Red Columbus monkey is typical of Zanzibar and is found in abundance in this reserve forest. These monkeys are very friendly and are even found outside the boundaries of the reserve forest.
There are other species of animals also found in Zanzibar. There are Syke’s monkeys, bush pigs, small bucks and the rare but elegant Zanzibar leopards. The leopard has almost become an extinct species and very few animals are now seen. The guides and helpers in the reserve forest are well trained and take care of the guests well.
