Pangani

Pangani is both a place of tourist attraction as well as an administrative center. Located to the south of Tanga, Pangani is at the tip of the Pangani River. The place portrays immense natural beauty with some exotic unspoilt beaches. The city did not gain much popularity in the earlier times and so nature in Pangani has not been tampered.

Pangani has a long historical background. The city had been under the Arabs, the Germans and the British colonial rule. In the present times, Pangani is one of the seven districts of the Tanga Region. The city is surrounded by Muheza district in the north, Pwani region in the south, while the Indian Ocean lies to the east of Pangani and the Haedeni district to the west of the city.

There are large plantations of sugar and coconut in Pangani, which were tended by the slaves in earlier times. Presently, sugar is not produced in Pangani, but coconut and betel-nuts are still produced in the Tanzanian city of Pangani. Fishing has developed as an important industry because of the exotic beaches in the city.

There are all the civic amenities present in Pangani in Tanzania ranging from schools, markets, restaurants, hospitals to internet cafes and banks.

Tourism has developed considerably in Pangani due to the unspoilt beaches and the calm and tranquil environment of the place. Several accommodation facilities in the form of lodges are available in Pangani. Water sports activities can also be undertaken on the beaches in Pangani.
