Loliondo in Maasai is located at the southern border of Ololosokwan at Serengeti. Footed at the Nqoronqoro Crator at a height of 7000ft, Loliondo is also known as Lolionde or Lollonde. Encapsulated by dense acacia woodlands, the Nqoronqoro highlands find the Gol and Piyaya mountains in their southern regions. The Loliondo hills find themselves encapsulated amongst ridges and hills of Lobo as well as the riverine forests and numerous kopjes.
Loloindo forms a significant area of the Greater Serengeti Ecosystem. Safari trips are considered to be the most sought after Tourist Attractions in Loliondo. Safari trips are mostly organized during the months of December to May when millions of migratory ungulates and wildebeests flock towards the Amboseli National Park and Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The nearest airport is Musiara and the surrounding cities include Wasso, Loginya, Digodigo, Ssamunge, Lemesikio.
Accommodation at Loliondo in Tanzania is available at various lodges and camps like Klein’s Camp, Migration Camp, Grumeti River Lodge, Serengeti Serena Lodge, Kusini Tented Camp, Mbusy Mawe Tented Camp, Kirawira Tented Camp and Serengeti and Loliondo Mobile Camps.
Most of the hotels and camps are located right in the heart of the African wildlife away from that hustle-bustle of city life, so that, there is even a high chance of meeting the semi nomadic Masai people there. So, for all those who want to break out from that humdrum of everyday life, Loliondo is beckoning with open arms.
