Tajikistan is a small country cradled in between the Pamir mountain and the Aral sea in the Central Asian region. It is one of the last countries to separate itself from the former Soviet Union, becoming an independent nation as late as in 1992. The separation of Tajikistan was brought about amidst great amount of bloodshed and violence. Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan.

Mr. Emmoli Rahmon (Emmoli Rahmonov) is the present president of Tajikistan. With its capital at the old city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan is a major cotton producing country. Textile is the major product while industrial products makes up for most of the rest of the country's financial base. The mountains behind the capital city are rich in Uranium content.

The paintings and the carvings of Tajikistan are noted worldwide for their high aesthetic values. Tajikistan music is a wonderful mix of classical and folk musical forms. Tajikistan also has a great literary tradition.
