Taipei 101, Taiwan

Taipei 101 has been World's tallest building since 2004. It is a 101 floor landmark skyscraper in the Taipei City.

Taipei 101 was designed by C.Y Lee and partners and constructed by KTRT Joint venture. The original name of Taipei 101 was Taipei Financial Center. This building is technologically advanced skyscraper constructed till date. The striking features of the building are Fiber optic and Satellite Internet connections. The high speed and world's fastest elevators are from the world famous Toshiba. A tuned mass damper held at the 87th floor stabilizes the tower against earthquakes, typhoons and wind. The damper can reduce upto 40% tower's movement.

The exterior of the tower incorporates many symbols of financial success. The distinctive sections that create the look of a bamboo stalk are actually representative of gold ingots used in ancient China as currency. There are 8 of them at 8 different floors because the Chinese consider 8 to be their lucky color. Majority of the aspects of decoration were looked after by the Feng Shui masters. The 8 segments of Taipei 101 covered with green tinted glass reflects the Chinese lantern like figures. The total weight of Taipei 101 is 700,000 tonnes which equals up to a mass that can possibly make up an earthquake.

The design of Taipei 101 is highly inspired from the Chinese culture. The interior as well as the exterior of this building give a pagoda look and shape of bamboo flowers that is worth visiting both by local and international tourists.
