Taiwan Flag

Taiwan Flag symbolizes the whole nation. It is hoisted by both the government officials and the residents of Taiwan. There are several privately owned buildings and government offices that have the Taiwan Flag flying on their roofs.

Being known as the ‘white sun in blue sky’, the flag of Chinese revolutionary leader Sun Zhong Shan appears in the canton. In the national flag of Taiwan a picture of sun has been embossed, the rays of which symbolizes 12 traditional Chinese hours, each is equal to 2t hours. This is both representative and symbolic. It shows the progress.

Most part of the Taiwan Flag is red in color. It is said to be the traditional Chinese color. The date when this national flag was adopted officially is 8th October, 1928.

Taiwan Flag is squire in shape. It has red, blue and white color inside it. Most part has been colored with red whereas the upper part of left side is blue in color. There is a picture of sun in that blue portion. The part which is painted with blue is also squire in shape. This particular part is almost covering1/3 portion of the flag.

The 3 colors of Taiwan Flag represent the three principles of the People. They have been mentioned below

  • Red symbolizes nationalism
  • Blue represents democracy
  • White represents the livelihood of the citizens
Though the flag of the Republic of China is popularly called the "flag of Taiwan" in English, this term is not commonly used in Chinese because of certain controversies. But there is no doubt in the fact that the Taiwan Flag incorporates a sense of fellow-feeling among the Chinese people.
