Taiwan Music reflects the diverse culture of Taiwanese people. Taiwan underwent several economic, social and political scenarios and Taiwan Music reflects those issues in their own way. The music of this country has adopted a mixed style. Though like other countries Taiwan has several popular folk music but still classical music is highly appreciated by the inhabitants of Taiwan. Taiwan is indeed a home of several world-famous musicians who have gained international fame through their unquestionable talent.
The Hoklo had been introduced in the 17th century. It brought with them informal folk music along with traditional instrumental and operatic approach. This typical Taiwanese music is generally taught in amateur clubs, popularly known as quguan.
On the other hand, Instrumental music comprises of multiple genres including Beiguan and Nanguan. Nanguan has origined from Quanzhou on Mainland China, while currently it is most known in Lukang and has gained world-wide fame due to the efforts of Gang-a-tsui and Hantang Yuefu. Nanguan is melodious and soft whereas beiguan is loud and complex and is most enjoyed by the people across much of the island.
Taiwanese opera is also quite popular. Holo folk music on the other hand, is most common today on the Hengchun Peninsula artists’ performers being accompanied by yuechin (a type of two-stringed lute).
Apart from this there are some other types of

Hakka music
Bunun music
Pop and rock
Among the above mentioned Taiwanese music, Hakka music is mainly mountain songs whereas Bunun music is improvised polyphonic song. On the other hand, pop and rock music is said to be the most recent ones.
