‘Colonialism’ is an important term to define the history of Taiwan. Various periods has passed on under several colonialism ruling in Taiwan. Since its inception till date Taiwan has gone though a number of political, social and economic ups and downs. History of
Colonialism in Taiwan started with the invading of Dutch dynasties from seventeenth centuries.
In
Taiwan’s history of colonialism, following rulers has contributed successfully,
1) Dutch and Spanish rule
2) Ming loyalist rule
3) Qing Dynasty rule
4) Japanese rule
Followed by Dutch
colonialism, later the biggest Chinese Island of Taiwan has been manhandled by several ruling of respectively, Ming, Qing, and Japanese ruling. Colonial history of Taiwan is full of un-fortunate events, sacrifices, and bloodshed of common people.
In
Taiwan as the
colonialists has tried to captivate the Island in several period through out the history of China, but has not been succeeded for a prolong period of time especially because of the repeated interference of Chinese ruler and fighters. Feel for the common people in one hand and on the other the fear of loosing one of the most populous and biggest island of Chinese aborigines to foreign rulers has leaded the Chinese government to lend arms and forces, prompting them to get into wars against various colonial ruling.
In recent past also (in 1949), Taiwan faced the colonial devastations during 2nd World War, but as everything has to be ended or stopped at some of time thus history of
colonialism has also reached point blank.
