Syria literacy has greatly increased in the society of Syria. The primary education in Syria has developed itself well in the country. The country of Syria has successfully overcome its poor economic condition and has continuously worked to increase the literacy rate in the country. This has led to the general betterment of the society. The education scenario in Syria has developed since the last few decades. Now around 97% of the children in Syria avail the primary education and the literacy rate of the children in Syria is over 90%. Eighty seven percent of the male population in Syria are literate. The literacy rate among the women in Syria range to 73.9 percent. The betterment in the education system in Syria has led to the improvement in the economic scenario of the country.
Syria literacy has been made compulsory by the government of Syria. Various universities and colleges have been established in the country of Syria that takes care of the undergraduate and post graduate programs in Syria. Recently maximum of the population in Syria are going for higher education in the colleges and universities in Syria. To encourage literacy in Syria the government has kept a separate fund for primary education in Syria. This funds are used for developing the infrastructure of the schools and betterment of the courses conducted in schools. Syria literacy has been made compulsory for the children of six to eleven years. The primary education has been made compulsory for all the citizens of Syria.
