Bashar al Assad

Bashar al Assad holds the prestigious position of the President of Syria since July 10 in the year 2000. Bashar al Assad succeeded the President's position from his father Hafez al Assad. Bashar al Assad was born in Damascus on 11th September in 1965. At that point of time his father was appointed as the commander of the Syrian Air Force. Though, Bashar al Assad is the contemporary President of Syria, he was never thought to be getting involved in the politics.

Bashar al Assad was more interested in studies. For the study in ophthalmology, he moved to London in 1980. But the wheel turned in his life when his brother Basil died in an accident in 1994. Bashar al Assad was then called back to Syria and appointed as the commander of the Syrian army's armored division. At that point of time Bashar al Assad did some notable tasks that helped Syria to fight with the corruption in Syria. He earned a big reputation because of such bold steps that even ousted the former Prime Minister Mahmoud Zoubi from his respectable position.

Before Bashar al Assad was nominated as the President, he made himself famous for some campaigns, like dealing with the introduction of different consumer technologies. Once Bashar al Assad became the President of Syria, he opened up the doors of Syria to bring in the modern technology. The introduction of computer technologies and the Internet access to Syria owe a lot to Bashar al Assad. He even helped in bringing mobile technology in Syria.

Bashar al Assad has well dealt with the international and national political tensions. He has also declared that he will lift restrictions from the Syrian media thus allowing the critical journalism.
