Vaud, Switzerland

Vaud, Switzerland is the southwestern part that stretches from Lake Neuchâtel in the north and upto Fribourg and Bern in the east. Covering an area of 3,212 square km, Vaud, Switzerland borders Geneva and Lake Geneva, Haute-Savoie Lake, canton of Valais and also a part of France in the south. On the west, Vaud adjoins the Jura ranges French borders of Ain, Jura, and Doub. The capital of Vaud canton is Lausanne, a light industry based region.

The northern enclave includes Avenches surrounded by Fribourg and Lake Neuchâtel. Rest of the two enclaves is formed by Geneva and wide Alpine ranges. The southeastern mountains encompass the Swiss Alps with the highest peaks of Diablerets Glacier with an altitude of 3,210m. An ideal place for sports activities, Vaud, Switzerland has many skiing zones such as Villars, Les Diablerets and Leysin. The canton of Vaud, Switzerland constitutes of mostly moraines and hillocks.

Language spoken among the inhabitants of Vaud, Switzerland is mostly French and the place also has many educational institutions. However the economy is mainly tertiary based with little of secondary. Vaud, Switzerland is also the second largest producer of wine in Switzerland, especially the white wine. Other agricultural products like sugar beets, tobacco, are also grown in the plain valleys La Broye, Mt. Jura and Orbe.
