Lucerne


Located on the shore of Lake Lucerne is the city of Lucerne, Switzerland which is the capital of the canton of Switzerland and is the most populous city of Switzerland. Traditionally a fishing village this was the founding venue of the Benedictine monastery of St Leodegar. Lucern, Switzerland is located amidst the historic and scenic beauty, which many prefer to call the 'true Switzerland'. Rightly so,as the visual delight the meadows and lakes only reflects the true essence of Switzerland.

The town of Lucerne, Switzerland is split up into two by the River Reuss which flows out of the North Western end of the Lake rapidly. The banks of the Lake act as living museums with history always on display. The banks are crowded with Ancient guild Halls, Frescoed houses, medieval squares, Chapels and Churches. Besides there are some real good Museums in the town. The quality of collection in the Picasso Gallery, Verkehrshaus(transport museum) is really worth a visit. The town of Lucerne, Switzerland is overall visually pleasing. The ancient buildings, archways, medieval battlements, the cobbled alleys and the garden courtyards all together take you to a different era. One of the most beautiful and famous sight of the city is the Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge, built in the 14th Century on the River Reuss.

Lucerne, Switzerland is located in the heart of the country. Zürich is the nearest Airport and is just a 45min drive Geneva is 244 Km away and Berne is 92 Km.
