Location - Berne, lies a little west of the center of Switzerland, its landscape is glacial in origin. The two closest mountains are the Gurten and the Bantiger. The city, originally built on very uneven ground, has its base on a mountain engulfed by the sea Aar but outgrew the natural boundaries of the river in the 19th century. Several bridges were built to let the city grow outside of the limits enforced by the river.
Reaching there - Travel time from Zurich which has the nearest international airport, is 75 minutes by car and 60 minutes by train. Geneva and Interlaken are the other nearby cities. Berne also has its own regional airport in Belp with on international flight with Lufthansa flights from Munich. International train connection s to Berne are easy to get.
