Bern, Switzerland was founded by Duke Berthold V of Zahringen on the river Aare and is said to have been named after a Bear he had killed. Bern, a part of the Canton of Bern is located in the Swiss plateau, a little West from Central Switzerland. The Swiss city of Bern is Crammed onto a steep sided peninsula besides the fast flowing river Aare. Except for the few passing hi tech cars and trams and the glamorous glow signs, the city has altered little over the past five hundred years. The wooded hills and the banks of the river have retained its old rustic charm .

The Bern Airport is located near the village of Belp , outside the city. This Airport is a regional one and is connected to various Swiss and European cities.
