The second largest city of Sweden, Goteborg is located on the West coast of Sweden. A city and municipality in the province Västergötland, Goteborg has a population of 489,787( approximately). The Swedish city of Goteborg was founded in the year 1621 by the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus II and over the years became a major center for trade. The inlet of the river Göta Älv is well located to form a harbor and the Goteborg Port has been expanded and today it stands as the largest port amongst the Nordic countries.
Located on an arm of the North Sea, Goteborg has a mild climate and enjoys a handsome amount of rain. This moderate kind of climate allows tourists to visit the place all throughout the year. Goteborg is one of the most attractive sites in Sweden and offers the tourists some of the most interesting historic sights, museums, cultural events and good shopping. There are also some popular tourist spots like Scandinavia's largest amusement park which is located very near the town of Goteborg. There are numerous fishing villages in the South of Goteborg which stretch all the way to Norway.
The main Airport of Goteborg is located in Landvetter, 20km East of Goteborg. However, there is a smaller Goteborg City Airport which lies 14km North West of the city. Transportation in Goteborg is made easy by the major transportation hubs of Centralstationen( the Central Station) and the Nils Ericson Terminal with runs trains and buses to various destinations in Sweden.
