Till the year 1811, Arvika was a small village in Sweden but later on the royal charter gave it the status of a town under the name “Oscarsstad”. This change was implemented keeping in mind the economy of Arvika and efforts were made to improve the economic status of the place. Finally in the year 1821, the status of town was changed and the place was named Arvika on giving it the status of township better known as “status of Koping”. In the year 1911, Arvika regained the status of a town under the same name.

Arvika since then has thrived economically and culturally with many industries and major Swedish artists being the native of the place.
