Babulla City Map

Situated at a distance of about 230 kilometers from Colombo, the hilly city of Badulla is located at the extreme south-eastern part of Sri Lanka. Being one of the most beautiful Sri Lanka Cities, it is also the capital of the Uva Province. Nestled between the gurgling Badulla- Oya river on one side and the towering mountains on the other, the city of Badulla experiences an ever enticing climatic phenomena called the Badulla Blanket. The lingering humid mist in this climate is bound to rejuvenate the ebbing romance in one's life.

Situated at an altitude of 600 meters, Badulla features a tropical climate. The vegetation, therefore, is dominated by tall palm trees.

Places to visit in Badulla
One can enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of the city anywhere, but there are certain places that leave a lingering mark on one's mind. Some of these places are:

St. Mark's Church: This beautiful church was built to commemorate major Thomas R. Rogers, who was responsible not only for the construction of all the roads in the dangerous terrains of Uva, but was also the mind behind building most of the rest houses there. What actually attracts the visitors to this place is the magnificent beauty of the architecture and the solemnity of mind.

Dunhinda Falls: Laced with nature's bounty, the waterfall provides a misty, magical aura to Badulla. The path to this waterfall is even more fantastic, especially when it runs along the Badulla-Oya river, which flows at the bottom of the valley.

The Namunukula Mountain: This mountain is one of the most towering geographical features in the proximity of Badulla. Unlike its height, which ranges upto 2036 meters, this mountain range is easy to explore. The panoramic view from its apex is sure to leave a lingering memory of the city of Badulla.
