Spain Lakes includes 444 mountain lakes and 82 karst lakes. The biggest Lake in Spain , Sanabria in Zamora is coursed by river Tera,
while the second biggest, Banyoles, is fed by the river Ter.
- Lake Sanabria : Zamora(province), 370 ha(size), 51m(depth), Glacial marginal type. Lake Sanabria, a glacial lake, is located north of Puebla with a maximum yearly temperature of 37,5 ° and a minimum yearly temperature of -20 °.The most remarkable feature of the Sanabria valley is the Lago de Sanabria National Park, north of Puebla de Sanabria. Its calm body of water covers 368 hectares and measures 55 metres in depth, making it the biggest glacial Lake in Spain.

Lake Banyoles, the main lake of Catalonia, is situated in the northeast of Iberian Peninsula, near the town of Girona (100 km from Barcelona). It is the largest lake in the complex karstic system of Banyoles, with a surface area of 1.12 km2 and a maximum depth of 46.4 m. It was formed due to the dissolution of underground gypsum bed and the collapse of overlying layers. Lake Banyoles is an assemblage of six basins (polje) formed by different episodes of collapse and grouped in three major lobes.
