However MPA is an umbrella term applied to a wide area of marine areas mainly to protect living non-living or historic resources under the water.

A definition of the MPA was developed by the World Conservation Union which said, “Any area of the sub tidal or inter tidal terrain, together with its overlying water and associated fauna, flora, historical and cultural features, which has been reserved by law or other effective means to protect part or all of the enclosed environment”. There are a number of Marine Reserves scattered all along the coast of Spain .The main Marine Reserves in Spain include:
  • La Palma
  • La Restinga
  • Isla Graciosa
  • Isla de Alboran

The Sea water in this region is crystal clear and pollution free and the home to a thousand of different species of marine animals and plants. The variety in colors, size and types are unimaginable. The under water canvas displays all the possible colors and underwater diving in this region is the most tempting option.
