Malaga Spain

The Andalucia region has eight provinces and Malaga Spain is just one of them. Malaga Spain is a Port city and is the largest among the cities of Andalusia. With a population of around 550 000 inhabitants the city lies about 370 Km to the South of Alicante along Costa del Sol.
Malaga has a major International Airport,the Mlaga Airport and it is well reputed all over Europe as it is a major station for cheap flights to and from Spain. The superb wine and Pasas, that is, Raisins are a major items that Malaga Spain can boast of producing. Some of the famous locations in the beautiful city of Malaga Spain are:

The Cathedral : The Cathedral in Malaga Spain at the Plaza de la Cathedral is probably the most prominent building of the city. This Cathedral was built by replacing the Malaga Mosque by Pedro Lopez and Diego Siloe . However the construction was left incomplete due to monetary reasons. The Southern Tower of the Cathedral still stands incomplete and is therefore called ' la manquita' which means missing.

The Market Area : To the West of the Cathedral lies the old part of the city. This is the market area of Malaga Spain. The market Hall is adorned with an impressive marble entrance door. The market displays some of the items that the city has to offer, from tons of fish to beautiful flowers.

Picasso Museum: Pablo Picasso is the son of this artistic city and his birth house is still there at Plaza de la Merced 15 . The Picasso Museum at the Palacio de Buenavista at Calle San Augustin is a major tourist destination.

The Alcazaba: The Gibralfaro(Fort) is situated on a ridge and it looks down on the City and at the bottom of the same ridge is the Muslim palace of Alcazaba. It was completed in the 14 th Century by the Nasrides. However, the ruins of these fortresses house the two museums of Archeology and Museo de la Ceramica . The latter mostly display pottery.
