Korea War

The Korea War started off as a civil war, from 1950-1953 on the heart of the Korean Peninsula.

The Korean Peninsula was divided by the post-World War II Soviet and American border lines. The Korea war began on June 25, 1950.It was when North Korea attacked South Korea. United Nations, led by the United States, and henceforth China entered the conflict and the civil war got even more expanded. The conflict ended when a halt was declared on July 27, 1953.

The prime support on the North Korea's side was the People's Republic of China, with slight assistance of Soviet with their expert advisors, military pilots, and weapons. South Korea was supervised by United Nations (U.N.) forces although several other nations also contributed. At the beginning of the conflict North and South Korea was provisional governments struggling for control over the Korean peninsula ever since the Division of Korea by the United States and the Soviet Union took place.

South Koreans often call the war 6·25. In North Korea it is more common as the Korea War. It is also called the Fatherland Liberation War. While in the United States, the conflict was officially called a police action or sometimes the Korean Conflict and never a war in order to avoid the declaration of war by the U.S. Congress.

The war's spoiled look played a vital role in the presidential election of Dwight D. Eisenhower. He had promised openly to go to Korea to end the war. Chinese and Korean casualties were each at least 10 times as high as the US. The Korea war brought about the cold relations among North and South Korea.
