DMZ Korea is the Demilitarized Zone lying in the middle of the two parts of Korea which houses nearly 2 million soldiers of both sides. The DMZ Korea came into existence after the ceasefire of 27th July in the year of 1953 with the end of the Korean War. The military troops from both ends in DMZ Korea are always on alert to debar the strikes from the opposite half. The DMZ Korea is a buffer zone covering a width of 4 kilometers and length of 248 kilometers between South and North Korea. The DMZ Korea bifurcates the 38th parallel at such an angle that the western end lies to South Korea while the east end lies to the North Korean part. The DMZ Korea is said to be the most heavily armed border in the world.
The military troops were moved 2000 meters from the front line to create the DMZ Korea after the end of the Korean War. An agreement was signed for the purpose. In the center of the DMZ Korea lies the Military Demarcation Line (MDL). The MDL marks the perfect location where the sign of agreement regarding DMZ was followed. The agreement acknowledges the numbers of military personnel and the kind of weapons to be allowed in the Korean DMZ. Soldiers from both parts of Korea patrol for 24 hours inside the Korea DMZ, but they are not allowed to get over the MDL.
There are two model villages in the DMZ Korea . While one of them is in control of North Korean Government, the other one is claimed by South Korea. A thin common folk reside in these villages. Daeseong-dong is the traditional village in the South Korean half. A 328 feet tall flagpole has been built in Daeseong-dong by the Government of South Korea.
