People of South Korea belong to the East Asian ethnicity, is believed to be the successor of the Proto-Altaic or Altaic tribes who were connected with Turks or Mongolians. Since its inception, Korea has always been a homogeneous land. Though for several reasons in various times, people from different parts of world (western lands, China, Japan) has come to South Korea, but none of them has settled down over here. Thus the concept of a multi-cultural or multi-linguistic country is neither supported nor understood by the
Koreans.
In case of marital associations, the South Korean Government follows an ancient custom till date. The nation neither suggests nor approves a conjugal involvement between the Korean regions or with other countries. This is the reason why the highway between 'Gyeongsangbuk-do' and 'Jeollanam-do' has not been completed, and neither traveling linkage between the regions is encouraged, so that no connection can ever be established between the provinces.
