Peru Population


Peru Population is consisted of 28,674,757 people. People from ethnic groups inhabit the place such as Amerindian 45%, Mestizo 37%, White 15%, Black, Japanese Chinese and other groups 3%. People speak in Spanish and Quechua. Both are official language. Aymara and minor Amazonian languages are also used.

87.7% of the Peru Population is literate. People over 15 years age can read and write. They depend on natural resources like copper, silver, gold, petroleum, timber, fish, iron, ore, coal, phosphate, potash, hydro power, natural gas. 120,000 bbl/day oil production and 860 million cu m natural gas – production are their main source of economy.

Population of Peru is privileged to have various agricultural products like asparagus, coffee, cotton, sugarcane, rice, potatoes, corn, plantains, grapes, oranges, coca, poultry, beef, dairy, fish, guinea pigs etc. some of them are engaged in many of the industries like mining and refining of minerals, meta;l fabrication, steel, petroleum extraction and refining, natural gas, textile, clothing, fishing and fish processing, food processing.

Population in Peru is growing in a massive rate. 17 inhabitants per square kilometer is the average population density for the country. The coastal and the high level surface of the Andes is comparatively more dense in population. In the beginning of twentieth some internal migration shave take place. The coastal and eastern lowlands were preferred bu people than the higher and poorer settled areas.

The Peru Population does not remain racially homogeneous when the European colonizers came here. Intermarriage between the indigenous people, Europeans and also the Africans were not uncommon. Peru conquered the Inca Empire, which had embraced a number of cultural groups. In this way the Population of Peru became more diverse.
