Slovenia Health had at one time suffered a threat of disintegrating under the burdens of modern lifestyle, but in the last twenty years it has undergone major change to now became a subject of national pride. Health in Slovenia is currently at a stage where it compares very favorably with the countries in the European Union. Slovene Health index has improved in areas of infant mortality rate, incidence of dental and circulatory diseases and even in mental health. Health Care of Slovenia is also supporting this excellent initial head start that has been gained by Slovenia.
Although the infant mortality rates have decreased and life expectancy has increased dramatically, yet there is still scope of improvement. A comparison with the averages of the European union shows that Slovenia still needs to pull up its socks to compare favorably to the averages of the European Union.Dental health in Slovenia are excellent due to a concerted effort on the part of the government by bringing it under the public health care system.
However amidst all these wonderful statistics it must be remembered that in certain areas like communication of patients with their doctors and care givers and access to new medicines and specialist treatments need improvement.
