Slovenia Language



Slovene is the formal Slovenia language, officially the state language. The uniqueness of Slovene language has attracted many foreigners to learn the language. The development of the language of Slovenia unveils a very interesting episode, which has significantly influenced the history of Slovenia.

Slovenian language belongs to the category of modern languages, inextricably interwoven with the identity of the nation. The development of the language of Republic Slovenia dates several centuries back. Slovene can be said to be of Indo-European origin.

Historical evidences show that Slovenia language began to acquire form as early as the 10th century from Alpine Slavic. The literary works of Primož Trubar marks the beginning of literary phase of Slovene language. During the 16th century, Slovene was systematically structured into codes incorporated into its grammar.

In the subsequent centuries, Slovene began to be used widely in day to day life, particularly in offices and schools. This trend proliferated further during the period of French Revolution. Even in the post Second World War phase, Slovene re assumed its position as the official Slovenia language. In contemporary Slovenia, Slovene is used extensively in all possible spheres.

The well developed structure of Slovene, renders the language its distinctive feature. The dual form employed in the language distinguishes it from other linguistic types of Europe. Other characteristic traits of the Slovenian language can be found in the realms of morphology and phonology.

Hungarian and Italian are the other languages spoken in cosmopolitan regions of Slovenia apart from the official Slovenia language.
