As the country came into existence only in 1993 there is not much to be said about
Slovakia History. The country of
Slovakia was established in the year 1993 on the 1st of January. The archeological excavations have proved the presence of humans in this region during the pre historic era. With the coming of the Romans the
history of Slovakia got its unique form. It is believed that from 6th century CE the Slavs are residing in the Central Europe. However the first nation of the Slavs was only created in the ninth century CE. The Slovaks were under the domination of Hungary for a significant amount of time and from the 18th century uprising began for freedom and sovereignty. The similarity of the languages of the Czechs and the Slovaks had caused the identity crisis for the later. To solve this problem and also to develop the feeling of nationalism the Slovak language was codified. In the 20th century for significant amount of time Slovaks were under Nazi domination and later under the Czechs this was also an important period for
Slovakian history. After the fall of the Soviet Union and the communists in Czechoslovakia in 1991 uprising began which gave the people of Slovaks independence.
