Slovakia Holidays

Slovakia is a land of fun and festivals. There are different festivals celebrated in Slovakia such as the Myjava Traditional Folk Festivities and Children's Traditional Folk Festival. The folk festival Vychodna is their favorite festival. Slovakia also observes certain national holidays.

Festivals in Slovakia:

The most important festival in Slovakia is the folk festival Vychodna. This festival was begun by the people of Strba, Vazec and Vychodna, known for their festivities. A group of musicians and dancers called the Krivan of Vychodna took part in the Straznice Festival and popularized it. Later on it was performed by the famous groups such as

  • Strba,
  • Vychodna,
  • Sliace,


This festival has been made a member of the International Musical Council of UNESCO. It is a symbol of the Slovak Youth. It includes songs related to the place called Vychodna in Slovakia. Other important Festivals of Slovakia include:

  • Rontouka" Dance of Klenovec
  • Myjava Traditional Folk Festivities
  • Eurofolklore


National Holidays in Slovakia:

Slovakia observes a number of National Holidays. Some of the National Holidays in Slovakia are:

  • Slovak National Uprising Day on 29th August
  • Liberation of the Republic on 8th May
  • Cyril and St. Methodius Day on 5th July
  • Constitution Day on 1st September
