Val Cenis is a little known ski resort built around two traditional French villages, Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard .
The two villages are well connected by a bus service that runs every 20 minutes between them. Between the two villages, Val Cenis ski resort is equipped with an arrangement of 22 lifts that feed 43 slopes. The total piste length covered in the resort is 80 km. The skiers are chair-lifted to the starting point of the skiing area. Skiing here is best for intermediate skiers, but is great for expert skiers as well. The slopes are sunny and the high altitude guarantees a steady supply of snow in the winter.
Cross-country skiing is not one of the main attractions of Val Cenis. However, the 6 km. cross-country trail gives the skiers a great feel of the charming Haute-Maurienne region of the Southern Alps, adjacent to the Italian border. Val Cenis also provides other snow-sport facilities like indoor and outdoor skating, dog sledding and Apres-ski.
Val Cenis does not have a buzzing nightlife, but the warm hospitality of the villages are exemplary. There are boarding facilities, restaurants and bars. Shops, supermarkets and banks are also available. Val Cenis can be approached from the St. Geoirs as well as Turin airport, from where it is only 80 km. away. The winter season lasts from December to April.
