Vitosha is a wonderful ski resort located at a mere distance of 10 kilometers from Sofia, capital of Bulgaria. Vitosha ski resort is the highest resort in Bulgaria good for both winter and summer activities.
Vitosha can be best reached from Sofia by a car or by bus. The terrains and slopes are wonderful for skiing with good quality powder snow. The ski runs are various and cater to various levels of skiers and snowboarders ranging from beginners, intermediates and experts. There are ten ski lifts offered in Vitosha ski resort . The ski lifts in the form of chairlifts, draglifts and gondolas start from the border of Sofia and reach to the top of the mountain covering quite a long distance. The ski season in the resort begins in December and continues till March with good amount of snow for slalom and cross-country skiing. Accommodation facilities at Vitosha are available at small hotels and chalets on the mountain but with limited amenities. Restaurants, bars and shops are there in Sofia along with a rich night life. Ski equipment rentals are also provided by the ski resort.
