Via Lattea , literally meaning Milky Way, is a town on the Italian Alps in the French-Italian border. It has lately developed into a major winter sports venue of Europe.

It is one of the most important ski resorts of Italy. Via Lattea ski resort has been made comprising five ski resorts of the Piedmont region. These are the Italian resorts of Claviere, Sansicario, Sauze d'Oulx and Sestriere and the French ski resort of Mongenevre. They range from a height of 1509 metres to 2035 metres.

The Via Lattea is one of the biggest ski resorts of Europe and covers 400 kilometers of pistes on which the skiers practice their skiing skills. Of all the pistes present in Via Lattea , 120 pistes are made from artificial snow. The whole ski area is served by as many as 88 ski lifts. The well known Sestriere ski area is also a part of the Via Lattea . The resort has also played host to a number of winter sport championships including the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics .

At the Via Lattea Ski Resort , the visitors can stay at different hotels or apartments. There are a few good hotels like the Belvedere, Cristallo, Du Col and others. There are also several apartments like the Bellavista, Cavalieri R.T.A and others. There are also some other budget accommodations. The serenity and the beauty of nature of the place have made Via Lattea a favorite among the skiers across the globe.
