Tromso

Tromso is a city lying in the northern part of Norway . The city, situated in the Troms County , is also called "the Paris of the North".

The city is on an island, where the marvelous Northern Lights can be seen in winter and during summer the Midnight Sun shows in the sky. The city is home of the Tromso Alpinesenter , which is a renowned ski resort of the country. The resort is also reckoned as one of the popular ski stations of Norway .

Tromso Alpinesenter is at a distance of 10 kilometers from the city center. The resort includes a cross country ski trail, which is fully lit by floodlights. The ski runs or pistes of Tromso are considered to be most suitable only for expert skiers, as they are steep compared to the other ski slopes of the country. The ski season at the resort stars from December and finishes in March. However, March and April are considered to be the best time for off-piste skiing in Tromso. Apart from skiing, other winter sports offered by the Tromso ski resort authority are dog sledding, reindeer sledding and snowmobiling.
