Located in the Silesian Beskidy mountain range of the southern Poland , Szczyrk is a town reckoned as one of the popular ski destinations of the country.

The Szczyrk ski resort lies 460 meters above sea level within the Zylica valley . It is one of the most visited ski resorts of Poland . A number of winter sports are held in the town. Skiing, ice skating and ski jumping are some of the popular sports in Szczyrk . The town is surrounded by the Skrzyczne, Malinowska Skala, Magura and Klimczok peaks, which are considered to be perfect places for skiing. The Szczyrk resort encompasses 60 kilometers long ski trail, which can be reached through numerous ski lifts available.

The mountains around Szczyrk can be easily climbed. For this reason, they are favorites of both skiers and adventure lovers. The ski season in the town lasts from December and March. In the higher part of mountain, the duration of winter is a little longer, from November to April.

There are two ski areas in the town. One area known as the Skrzyczne ski area lies on the northern slopes of the Mt. Skrzyczne. This area homes the 2850 meters long ski run licensed by International Ski Federation, which is highly popular among skiers. The other ski area in Male Skrzyczne homes eleven ski trails. Most of the trails are suitable for expert skiers. However, there are easy slopes on the mountains, where novices can learn and practice the activity.

The Szczyrk offers accommodation in numerous hotels, apartments, cabins and guest houses. In the resort, every facility related to skiing is provided for the guests.
