Kandersteg is one of the most beautiful villages situated on the bank of River Kander in the valley of the Swiss Alps.
The Kandersteg Ski Resort is smaller than most of the other ski resorts of Switzerland. However, it is does not fall short of providing facilities to the visitors. The resort is situated at an altitude of 1,180 metres. There are 55 kilometres of cross country trails and 14 kilometres of pistes specified for downhill skiing. A network of seven ski lifts operates through the whole area of the resort for carrying skiers to their coveted skiing spots. Apart from skiing, there are also provisions for playing snowboarding in the resort.
The ski resort of Kandersteg does not have enough hotels to lodge the visitors who flock during the skiing season. Hence, the visitors seek lodging in the nearby resorts of Leukerbad, Murren and others. Still the Kandersteg Ski Resort is attracting an increasing number of skiers and tourists every year during the skiing season to enjoy the fun of the sport.
