Hemsedal is one of the most visited ski and winter destinations of Norway .

The village lies at a height of 625 to 1920 meters above the sea level. The place is also reckoned as Scandinavian Alps . Hemsedal ski resort is located in the Hallingdal Valley . The resort has been considered to be among the prime places for skiing for a long time. Lying between two cities, Oslo and Bergen, Hemsedal is surrounded by high mountains. In the Hemsedal ski resort there are around 39 ski trails, which wind down 2,600 feet of vertical drop.

The skiing season at Hemsedal starts around the middle of November, and ends in the starting of May. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, other activities like ice-climbing, dog-sledding, snowmobiling, kite-skiing, snowshoe hikes, horse sleigh rides, indoor swimming, paragliding, tobogganing, guided paragliding, paintball and various motor activities can also be enjoyed there. The mountain at Hemsedal provides something for everyone. The bases of ski lifts are connected by roadways, where shuttle buses ply from cities. From there people can reach the summit by chair lifts, T-lifts and plate lifts. There are discos and restaurants in Hemsedal , which add flavor to the night life.

Accommodation in the Hemsedal ski resort can be available at various price categories. There are luxurious cabins with complementary facilities like sauna and whirlpool. On the other hand, there are traditional cabins, self catering apartments, hotels and guest houses. Skiers can also stay at farm near the ski slope on mountains and in the villages.
