Cortina dAmpezzo is a picturesque town in the northern part of Italy . With its excellent slopes and brilliant skiing facilities, the town has developed into one of the main skiing locations in Europe.

The ski area, guarded by four Dolomite mountain peaks, is one of the best in the world. There are also several other facilities available. The skiing area is spread over 48 kilometers for cross country skiing and the resort is served by 45 ski lifts of which there are 5 cableways, 30 chairlifts and 10 surface lifts. The base is situated at a height of 1,224 metres and the top touches 2,939 metres. There are different arrangements for the beginner, intermediate and expert skiers. The skiing season in the resort is from December and lasts till April.

Apart from skiing, the Cortina dAmpezzo Ski Resort also hosts other sports like curling, hiking, ice skating and others. It has had the chance of staging the Winter Olympics in 1996. Besides, the venue has also hosted the Ski World Cup for women. The skiers are provided with a number of facilities. They include the shopping services, child care facilities, bars, cafes, cinemas and restaurants.
