Previously it had only the privately owned 'Whitetooth' ski area and skiing options were open to only a selected few. Lately, it has been developed into a major attraction for skiers and winter tourists. Kicking Horse ski resort has a total of 5 lifts covering an area of 2,750 acres. The trails provide great skiing opportunities for advanced and expert skiers. However, beginners and intermediate skiers are also not denied their share of fun. There is also a great opportunity for cross-country skiing over an area of above14 km.

Kicking Horse Resort also provides great opportunities for biking and snow hiking. The wild Kicking Horse River that feeds the great Colorado basin is a favorite sight-seeing option for the visitors. Kicking Horse Ski Resort offers many hotels and apartments on rent. Cabins and chalets on the picturesque Rocky mountain range can also be booked on request. Golden is the nearest town, and one can easily approach the ski resort from there.
