Lake Mountain

Lake Mountain , named after George Lake , a former Surveyor-General of the area, is located in the province of Victoria at a distance of 90 kilometers from Melbourne and is the most popular ski resort of Australia.

The resort is visited by the more visitors than any other ski resort of the country. The making of this cross-country ski resort which first came into being on the 12 th of June in 2004 had cost $3.7 million. Apart from skiing facilities, the resort also has a locker room facility and a toilet block. Besides, there are also the Ski Patroller's Centre for first aid services and The Heights Bar and Cafe for the refreshment of the skiers and the bushwalkers and bike riders.

The skiers can find a few places of accommodation in the Lake Mountain ski resort. There are two four-star hotels- the Allawah Country Cottages and the Lyell Guest Cottages . Apart from the lodging, these hotels provide the skiers with added facilities like spa baths and others to make the stay more comfortable. The boarders can also avail themselves of the library in the hotels. Apart from these two hotels, there is also the Anastasia Fairytale Cottage . All of these hotels also provide rooms from where the boarders can get glimpses of the beautiful scenic beauty of the place. The facilities provided by the authorities and the excellent skiing conditions of the trails makes Lake Mountain the most visited ski resort of Australia.
