Falls Creek


Falls Creek , located in the province of Victoria in Australia, is one of the major ski resorts of Australasia and is popular among the skiers for its excellent skiing conditions.

The initiation of the resort was in 1948 when it was only a ski lodge and it boasts of a rich history. It is the first resort in Australia to have a ski lift which was built in 1951. It was a rope tow. However, by 1957, the Falls Creek ski resort had its first chairlift. At present, the resort boasts of 15 ski lifts and also has 40 kilometers of well maintained skiing trails and 92 ski runs.

The Falls Creek ski resort has its base elevation at 1600 metres while its top elevation reaches 1842 metres. The resort provides the skiers with a number of amenities including ski hiring facilities and skiing facilities for children. Falls Creek being a car-free area, the skiers are provided helicopter services as the ski lifts. There are also several accommodation facilities for the skiers including the luxurious apartments some of which are the Alpine View Apartments, Astra Alpine Lodge, Cedarwood Apartments and others. The lodges and a few self-catering accommodations are also available in Falls Creek . With all the amenities provided by the management, more and more tourists are flocking to Falls Creek and the spot is fast becoming one of the most popular skiing locations in Australia.
