The Alpine ski boots , for example, are characterized by rigid soles and hard plastic soles while they have several sub-classifications like Front-entry ski boots, Rear-entry ski boots, Mid-entry ski boots and Shell-fittings . Nordic ski boots , on the other hand, have sub-divisions like Cross Country and Telemark which are mainly used for skiing on flat surfaces and downhill surfaces respectively. Telemark is specially made for brilliant downhill turns. Apart from these, there is the Randonee or the Alpine Touring boots which stands apart from the other due to the rubber soles used in them.
