Ski binding is the most important safety gear that is used while skiing and is used in combination with skiing boots. Along with ski boots, ski bindings form a connection between one's body and the skis. Good ski bindings provide balance between tightly gripping the boots and releasing the pressure whenever that is required. Ski bindings protect the foot and ski while a rough skiing experience and are an absolute necessity while skiing.
Most of the ski bindings consist of three components . The three components are a heel piece, a toe piece and a brake. In some ski bindings , the heel and the toe are mounted separately while in some they are attached to one plate. Ski bindings have to be set correctly with ski shoes to provide maximum comfort and security. There are release settings in ski bindings which are determined by several factors like height, weight, boot length and type and on the skill level of the individual. Another important part of ski binding is an anti friction device that reduces friction when toe-piece is released sideways. Presently ski bindings are lifted from ski top surfaces and provide easier gliding on the snow surfaces. There are many world-renowned ski equipment manufacturers who also manufacture ski bindings . Some of the manufacturers are Salomon, Marker Ltd, Rossignol, Tyrolia, Diamir, Fritschi Swiss Bindings, Switch Snowboard Bindings etc.
